Capsule wardrobe
If you dread get dressed in the morning, if you never feel good about what you are wearing, if you’re tired of wasting money on clothing you only wear a few times, and if you’re ready to no longer be a part of fashion cycle that creates tremendous waste and gorgeous economic & social disparities, it’s time to get a capsule wardrobe.
There are some great resources of building a more intentional wardrobe - my favorite being Courtney Carver’s Project 333 and Anuschka Rees’ “The Curated Closet”.
But the idea is simple - wear only the items of clothing that make you feel good.
And when you need to acquire new clothing, shop secondhand, swap with a friend, buy from brand that has high social & environmental standards, or even make your own.
But ONLY if you have the cash for that item, and it wouldn’t bump other, more important purchases.
I have been wearing some form of a capsule wardrobe or fashion uniform for the past 8 years. It has had an amazing ripple effect on my life, making my mornings easier, giving me more confidence, helping me save money, and helping to ensure my purchases are aligned with my values.
